Course Purpose

The purpose of this course is to enable learners implement various network designs and architectures.

Course Learning Outcomes

CLO 1:Explain the concepts and principles of network design and implementation

CLO 2:Analyze the techniques for network security and performance optimization

CLO 3: Develop skills for network management and maintenance

CLO 4:Evaluate best practices for network security and auditing

Course Content

Network design, implementation, and management involve planning, building, and maintaining secure, scalable, and resilient network infrastructures. The process covers creating logical and physical topologies (often using a hierarchical core-distribution-access model), implementing security protocols, configuring devices (routers/switches/firewalls), and ongoing monitoring. Key, and essential, elements include redundancy (multiple ISP connections, standby equipment), VLAN segmentation, and comprehensive documentation to ensure high availability and performance.
