Course Content

Functional properties of Fibers: Functional properties of fibres such as physical, mechanical, biological, thermal and electrical. Industrial yarn: Types of industrial yarns: Polyester, Nylon, aramid. Sewing thread: requirements, raw material, manufacturing details. Glass Fiber: manufacture, properties, application. Metallic yarn: types and construction, manufacture, properties. Bio-component yarn: manufacture, properties and application. Tyre cord yarn and fabric: fibre properties, requirement of a tyre cord fabric. Coated fabrics: textiles commonly used in coated fabric, coating materials, coating methods. Conveyor belting and Hose fabric: composition, physical and mechanical properties. Peel strength testing. Hose fabric: definition, characteristics, types and importance of reinforcement, application. Bolting cloth: fibres used, construction details, types and application. Filters: definition, characteristics, types, application. Narrow fabrics: types, methods of manufacture and application. Protective textiles:  Types of fiber uses in Protective textiles. Personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves, masks, and safety clothing. Protective textiles for hazards such as cold, heat, chemicals, and radiation.
