Course Purpose
The purpose of this course is to equip students with skills to develop and implement eco- innovation strategies with least waste generation in the textile and fashion industry. It covers the concept of eco-innovation and its practices. The course also examines waste management and pollution control for sustainability in textile industry.

Eco-innovation: Principles of Eco-Innovation; Historical context and evolution of eco- innovation importance of eco-innovation, Case studies showcasing successful eco- innovation initiatives. Drivers and Barriers of Eco-Innovation, Eco-Innovation Strategies, Tools and Methods for Eco-Innovation; hands-on exercises and case studies demonstrating the application of eco-innovation tools in real-world scenarios. Emerging trends in Eco- Innovation. Case study of sustainable business models. Waste management and pollution control strategies: waste hierarchy (4Rs) (reduce, reuse, recycle, recover) and practical applications, monitoring techniques for assessing environmental impact. Regional, national and international policies, cleaner production concepts and strategies, sustainable consumption practices, concept of circularity; Social and economic aspects of waste management and pollution control, Emerging concepts: Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Case studies and best practices.
