In this module, you will learn about understanding organizational crises; the types and categories of crises; the crisis lifecycle and its organizational impact; the principles and frameworks that guide crisis communication, including SCCT, Image Repair Theory, and CERC; and how crisis communication differs from risk and issue communication. Further, the module provides case studies, discussions, and problems for self-assessment in the learning process.
In this module, you will learn about building organizational resilience; developing a crisis communication plan; establishing a crisis management and communication team; stakeholder identification and mapping; and risk assessment, vulnerability analysis, and preparedness tools. In this module, you will learn about crisis response strategies and communication frameworks; making communication decisions under pressure; developing holding statements and initial responses; managing apologies, accountability, and corrective action; and the legal, ethical, and governance considerations in crisis communication. In this module, you will learn about stakeholder analysis and communication priorities; developing effective crisis messages; internal communication and employee engagement; communicating with customers, communities, partners, and regulators; and inclusive and culturally sensitive crisis communication. In this module, you will learn about working with traditional media during crises; press conferences, media interviews, and briefings; social media crisis management and digital engagement; managing misinformation, disinformation, and online reputation; and effective spokesperson and leadership communication. In this module, you will learn about post-crisis communication and organizational recovery; reputation repair strategies; rebuilding stakeholder trust; conducting a post-crisis communication audit; and lessons learned, continuous improvement, and updating the crisis communication plan.
