Course Purpose
The purpose of this course is to equip learners with knowledge and practical understanding of human resource management policy and its role in guiding employee management in organizations. The course introduces learners to the principles, processes, and frameworks used in developing, implementing, and evaluating HRM policies that promote fairness, compliance, efficiency, and organizational effectiveness. It also enables learners to appreciate how HR policies shape recruitment, training, performance management, employee relations, discipline, rewards, diversity, health and safety, and organizational change. By the end of the course, learners should be able to analyze HR policy issues and propose appropriate policy responses in different workplace settings.

Course Content
Foundations of HRM Policy: introduces the concept and nature of HRM policy, its definition, importance, scope, and objectives, while showing how HRM policy connects with organizational strategy, guiding principles, and the vision, mission, values, and policy direction of human resource management. Employment and Staffing Policy; covers workforce planning, recruitment and selection, equal employment opportunity, induction and orientation, probation and confirmation, and employee records and documentation. Training, Development, and Career Policy; focuses on staff training and development, learning and capacity building, career development, succession planning, promotion and transfer, talent management, and employee growth and retention. Performance Management Policy; addresses the meaning and importance of performance policy, including planning, target setting, appraisal systems, feedback and coaching, poor performance management, and links to rewards and development. Compensation, Benefits, and Reward Policy; explores wages and salaries, benefits, incentives, recognition, employee welfare, and fairness in compensation. Employee Relations Policy; discusses communication, grievance handling, discipline, conflict resolution, trade unions, collective bargaining, and employee participation. Diversity, Inclusion, Ethics, and Workplace Conduct Policy; highlights diversity, non-discrimination, harassment prevention, ethical conduct, fairness, accountability, and employee rights. HRM Policy Implementation, Review, and Emerging Issues; examines policy enforcement, monitoring, evaluation, review, continuous improvement, digital HR issues, remote work, flexible work, and emerging HRM policy challenges.
