Course Purpose

The course aims to equip learners with a clear understanding of procurement processes and how they are transformed through electronic systems. It focuses on building knowledge and skills in e-procurement concepts, tools, and technologies, while highlighting their benefits, challenges, and implementation strategies. Additionally, it prepares learners to manage electronic records securely, operate within legal and ethical frameworks, and understand modern trends such as automation, data analytics, and AI in procurement.

E procurement concepts:  EDI, E ordering, E sourcing, E reverse auctioning; ERP systems; E wallets, E information.  Rationale and challenges for E procurement: benefits; limitations; challenges.  E procurement implementation strategy: implementation risks, factors affecting successful e procurement implementation; e procurement life cycle. Managing electronic records: benefits; risks, security, hardware and software protection; encryption, data back up; challenges in managing electronic records; Legal and ethical considerations in use of e procurement systems: legal framework, risk management strategies in e procurement implementation; ethical concerns of stakeholders. Electronic Public procurement in tendering: e sourcing; e noticing; e access; e submission; e tendering; e orders; e contracts; e invoicing; e archiving.  Emerging trends in E procurement: Automation; big data; AI.
