Curriculum

Module 1: Planning for Mathematics Learning

Effective mathematics learning begins with effective planning. A well-planned lesson helps learners develop conceptual understanding, mathematical reasoning, problem-solving skills, and confidence through meaningful, learner-centred learning experiences.
In this module, you will learn how to design competency-based mathematics lessons that actively engage learners. You will explore practical approaches such as the Concrete–Pictorial–Abstract (CPA) progression, contextualised learning, relational understanding, and inclusive lesson planning. You will also develop your own competency-based lesson plan and receive feedback from your peers.

Module 2: Learning Resources for Mathematics

In Module 1, you learned how to plan competency-based mathematics lessons. In this module, you will learn how to select, create, and use learning resources that make mathematics meaningful, engaging, and accessible for all learners.
You will explore how concrete, visual, and digital resources support conceptual understanding and learner participation through the Concrete–Pictorial–Abstract (CPA) progression. You will also learn how to improvise mathematics resources using locally available materials and integrate mobile technologies to enhance learning.
By the end of the module, you will have designed practical mathematics learning resources that you can immediately use in your classroom.

Module 3: Facilitating Mathematics Learning

In this module, you will learn about the steps in machine learning applications for the supervised learning and unsupervised learning; the application of regression model for supervised learning; the application of classification using random forest for supervised learning; and the K-means clustering for unsupervised learning. Further, the module provides examples, exercises and problems for self-assessment in the learning process.

Module 4: Assessment of Mathematics Learning

In the previous modules, you learned how to plan competency-based mathematics lessons, select appropriate learning resources, and facilitate learner-centered mathematics learning. This final module focuses on assessing learning to improve teaching and support learner progress.
You will explore how to design competency-based assessment tasks, identify common learner misconceptions, and provide constructive feedback that helps learners improve. You will also analyze learner work and apply assessment strategies that support continuous learning in mathematics.
