About this course

This course equips school leaders with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to effectively implement the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), strengthen inclusive and participatory governance in schools, and promote gender equity. It is designed to support leaders in creating responsive, inclusive, and high-quality learning environments that meet the diverse needs of all learners in Kenyan schools.

Curriculum

Module 1: Introduction to Governance in Education

Overview of governance in education, Theories and models of educational governance, Role of stakeholders in educational governance.

Module 2: Accountability in Educational Systems

Definition and importance of accountability, Types of accountability (internal vs. external), Mechanisms for ensuring accountability in education.

Module 3: Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice in Education

Understanding equity, inclusion, and social justice in education, Leadership roles in promoting inclusive and equitable educational systems.

Module 4: Leading  Diverse and Inclusive Educational Environments

Addressing gender disparity, socio-economic inequality, and access to education in developing countries.

Module 5: Educational Leadership in Crisis and Conflict Zones

Understanding the impact of crises on educational systems, Leadership roles in rebuilding educational systems in post-conflict or crisis environments, Addressing trauma and educational disruption, Case studies of leadership in conflict and crisis-affected regions; Educational Leadership and Global Competitiveness

Module 6: Educational Policies Promoting Gender Empowerment

Exploration of national and international educational policies aimed at gender equality, Analysis of successful policies and their implementation strategies, Policy gaps and recommendations for improvement.
